This is my favorite picture of the trip. You can see all of the pictures at this photobucket page.
We left Maryland at night with plans of getting to Denver to meet at Ryan's house (my friend from college) and be able to go to sleep after the long trip and have it actually be nighttime. So we drove the entire length of I-70 after going through West by God Virginia, Ohio, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, and mother loving Kansas, we got to Colorado 26 hours later.
I will now give you my highlights from each state
This picture is taken on the near vertical chimney almost at the summit of Longs Peak. You can see flat ground way in the background probably at about 7,500 fabsl and I am sitting at 14,100 fabsl so that is 6,600 feet below me.
This morning sunrise extravaganza in Arches me and Jake will never forget
Taking a nap in prime real estate
Pahoehoe lava flow (without having to go to Hawaii)
Remains of the Mount Mazama Volcanic Explosion from 5,700 years ago, Oregon
Now I am adding one rock to the mix
Orcas Island, WA
More local food than Middlebury, VT and less in your face about it
More elite than Cape Cod and less in your face about it
More hippie that burning man, but less in your face about it
Better views than Santa Barbra but less in your face about it
Hi, I'm Nilo. Living in Oregon I mostly enjoy sports by the season. Summer is mountain biking, kayaking and climbing. Fall is kayaking and surfing. Winter is skiing and backcountry skiing. Spring is kayaking and late skiing. All with some traveling thrown in there
